Adobe Spark Video on Web 2.0 and Web 3.0

I just completed module 4 on focusing on Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 and I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised about this learning experience. I think the evolutionary trends of the internet are quite fascinating especially since it has been an integral part of daily human activity for the past 20 years. The scope and range of development of the web is also quite fascinating because, as a social construct, the interactions people will have online will just continue to develop as time goes as.

I do have some qualms about the changes that will provide a more convenient and immersive experience. I actually think this is a bad thing because I feel people are slowly starting to lose touch with reality. I think it's a bad idea to have so much convenience because struggle in life causes growth. As we rely more heavily on technology to complete certain tasks in our lives, we're going to adapt to become a species out of touch with the primal characteristics we have had during the past ten thousand years.

But at any rate, this was a great assignment especially because I learned how to create a video in Adobe Spark. Sometimes those creative assignments are much more time consuming and challenging than quickly drafting an essay or short response. Here's a link to the video that I created. Thanks for watching.

Gapminder and Excel

 Hello all, I just visited a great website called Gapminder . This is an education tool with a focus on identifying systemic misconceptions about global development. There are a number of interactive tools and features that are used to help participants learn about these issues. For instance, you take a survey about plastics that end up in the ocean by taking a multiple choice question. When you get it wrong, a new slide shows up sharing the correct information and extending the learning experience. If you correctly answer a question, there is also a new slide that shares some of the misconceptions that others have had about the question. I would place this resource at the middle school level and would use is to help students identify a problem for their research. Maybe they could creating some kind of a sustained research project where they integrate learning subjects from various content areas (English, science, math) to develop a presentation of their findings.
